A Visit from the Denver Zoo

Today was an exciting day in kindergarten!  The Denver Zoo visited our classroom and brought 3 animals for us to see.  We have been talking about the story Make Room For Ducklings by Robert McCloskey.  In that story, we talk about the ducks finding a place to live.  We talked about where each of these animals live.  We got to see a Tiger Salamander. We got to see and touch a Shingle Back Skink and a Kenyan Sand Boa.  The children were very brave and willing to touch the animals.  Thank you to the Denver Zoo for visiting our classroom, and to The Outback committee here at school which is funded by the PTO for funding this visit.

The kids took home a picture from the zoo.  The children should draw where the Tiger Salamander lives (in the forest).

Next week, we will work at centers, continue working on counting and writing numbers in math, writing in our journals, and going to specials.  We will go to Music on Monday, and the Computer Lab on Wednesday.

The FUNd Run is next Friday, September 23.
